“Makin’ Whoopee” – She is painfully out of her element here. “Walk On By” – She has her occasions of high and glorious note taking but when it comes down to it there are many areas where Lauper sounds like she is going to lose her grip. “On The Sunny Side Of The Street” – This is what Cyndi Lauper sounds like doing her best impression of No Doubt.
“At Last” – Lauper can’t belt it out but is missing that musty, growl that only Etta James and few others could bring. Cyndi takes it on only it’s too bad she sounds so trepid. “Unchained Melody” – This is one of the hardest songs to tackle. “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me” – You can taste the emotion. Lauper proves that she has more than that squawk-ish girly voice. Our Line: Cyndi Lauper does her best impression of the standards.
